Artist Statement
In my art I strip everything down to the essentials until I am naked and alone in an undefined space. It is in that state where I begin to come alive. Naked, I can be unapologetically myself; I can be free.
I lose myself in the process of painting. My self-portraits tear and pull at a material, metaphorical challenge. Like in dreams I confront challenges by creating a physical manifestation of the psychological. My pain and connection with others become abstract landscapes of flesh and membrane-like fabric.
